I very rarely actually talk about what happens or the results I have with my clients.
There is a reason for this - their business successes are deeply their own. They did the work and they deserve ALL the credit for the results of their work. Today, I am going to share a client story because someone asked me to give more insight into what I do. I will not mention the client’s name because I will never break a client’s trust. For this conversation, we will call him Paul.
Paul came to me because he was new to a leadership position and wanted some assistance with getting acclimated to his new role supporting the financial and synergistic growth of the business. He had been in leadership positions before but not at a company quite like this one. This company has been around for a long time and had many different leaders in its history. His new team was long-standing as they had worked together for many years, so he was the outsider. He had been affiliated and familiar with the company, however, it was not through directly working with the team.
When Paul came to me, he knew he had work to do to help the business progress, but didn’t have a rapport with the team to make those changes. He was already feeling frustrated with their lack of buy-in to his ideas and things were not going well at all.
Paul signed up for 3 months of coaching focusing on business leadership, and team building. Each week for 3 months we talked about his week, his staff, his ideas, and his mindset. Through our discussions about mindset, personality tendencies, confidence, and responsibility his personal leadership style began to emerge. I can confidently and proudly say that he has become the leader he hoped he would when we began our work together.
Paul continued past his initial 3-month coaching program because he found value in the work we were doing together. I am excited and delighted by his progress and I will continue to support him through whatever journey he decides to take.
Coaching isn’t always a “program” of set deadlines and action items. Sometimes it’s simply walking through a phase of life or development, making slight adjustments to our thoughts or methodologies. We often know what we want the outcome to be, just not how to get there.
I’m so proud of all of my clients, no matter where they are in life, for just raising their hand and asking for someone to hold it as a guide for a brief time in life.
